Constructive Living Coaching Overview

.: Programs .: Testimonials .: Who Can Benefit

What Coaching Is and Is Not.

There's no one definition of coaching, just as there are no two coaching relationships which are alike. You're unique and your experience of coaching will be unique to you.

Some people like to be pushed and held accountable. Some people like to go at a slower pace.

Some like a Coach to be directive and "call them out" on things. Others are more sensitive and want to talk and be heard and encouraged.

Some people use a Coach to achieve specific goals. Others want a Coach to help them re-connect to meaning and to inspire them.

But there are a few Universal things that Coaching can, and should, do for you. Notice I don't say will do. Coaching will not do anything for you unless you do the work. This is not a passive process.  But I have never yet had a client who did not get what they wanted if they really committed themselves to change. So here's the first, and most important, thing Coaching can do for you.

Commitments

Coaching can get you to honor commitments you make to yourself the same way you honor commitments made to others. Think about it. How many times do you break faith with yourself because you're the only one who knows about it? How many times do you not follow through on promises you make to yourself?

Do you think you're getting away with something? You're not. The price you pay is high, way too high. You don't start projects because you "know" you won't finish them. You stay mired in your last "failure". You lose trust in yourself. And if you can't trust yourself why would you expect anyone else to trust you? After all, you know yourself best.

You wouldn't treat a friend the way you treat yourself. Coaching can help you become your own best friend. And you will value that friendship above all others.

Responsibility

Coaching can get you to the point where you take absolute responsibility for your own life. Think about that, too. No more excuses. No reacting to things that just "happen" to you. No putting your dream on hold because you "can't" do what it takes.  Nothing gets in unless you let it in - or set it up.

Coaching can help you eliminate destructive habits and put powerful habits and structures in place for life

Coaching can move you through the gap between where you are and where you want to be. Or who you are and who you want to be. Or what you are doing and what you would like to be doing. It’s a movement process. Much faster than the glacial pace most of us move at.

Shift Your Perspective

Coaching can shift your perspective and kick-start you so that you act in the presence of  fear, without confidence, with uncertainty and without knowing the outcomes of your actions. You can do this day after day, decision after decision, without having to fix your feelings or get ready to act.

Change

Coaching can get you to initiate and direct change. We all change every day. But many of us don't recognize it. When you become familiar with the process of change in your life you can partner with it so that it works for you not against you.

Coaching can teach you to disable procrastination with action, overcome overwhelm, choose wisely and create templates for decision-making which honor your core values so that you're not second-guessing yourself or re-inventing the wheel each time you come to a crossroads. In short, the nuts and bolts of everyday living become simplified and easier.

The Goal of Constructed Life Coaching is to make the Coach obsolete

Coaches shouldn’t have tenure. They’re not gurus and they’re not mentors. They are Personal Assistants to your Life Work. When you adopt new productive habits and shift your perspective sufficiently you may find that you are comfortable doing  this work by yourself.

Some people like to taper off to "reality-check" sessions every now and then after they complete their main work in coaching.

Coaching is the 21st Century Answer to an age-old question:

"Who will stand for me?"
